Law Degree Requirements

Larry Said:

requirements to obtain Australian law licence with a law degree from India?

We Answered:

Here is information about how to practice law (admission requirements) in the Australian Capital Territory:

http://www.courts.act.gov.au/supreme/con…
and
http://www.legislation.act.gov.au/a/2006…

Any queries regarding admission should be directed to the Secretary of the Legal Practitioners Admission Board, Law Courts of the Australian Capital Territory, PO Box 1548, Canberra City ACT 2601. Telephone: 02 6267 2735. email: supreme.court@act.gov.au

One thing to remember, though, is that Australia has multiple jurisdictions so each may require something different.

Here's another helpful website:
http://www.collaw.edu.au/pp/admission_gr…

Supreme Court of Western Australia:
http://www.supremecourt.wa.gov.au/conten…

It does appear you may have to do some clerkship in Australia.

And other helpful sites (articles):

and

Hope this helps!

How can I find a law school where I can study abroad for the bulk of or all of my degree requirements?

We Answered:

You will not find any U.S. law school which will allow you to study abroad for the majority of your J.D. This would be pointless, since in the end you wish to practice in the U.S.

Some law schools offer a J.D. in which you can study for a semester abroad as part of the program but that is it.

Remember you will be studying U.S. law (torts, contracts, processing, constitutional law etc) these laws are going to be different in any other country since no two countries have exactly the same laws. Furthermore your first two years at law school will cover the above laws plus many more such has property, patent law, contracts, ethics etc.

So it would not be beneficial to you or to the law school to offer a program in which you would study abroad for the majority of the J.D.

Law degree requirements?

We Answered:

You probally just need 3 A-Levels of any subject. Law doesn't tend to require A-Level law because you learn it all again in the first year anyway. Law is a very currently relevent subject and tends to get reviewed very quickly as the law always changes.

The content i don't know, but will vary on the type of degree.

Law tends to be a upper end subject, hard to get onto usually.

law degree requirements?

We Answered:

you mean your only studying those two topics at A level and want to do a law degree when you go to university? If you're only studying for two A levels then it might be difficult cos you wont get enough ucas points to go to the better universities. Good law schools usually ask for an AAB or AAA a level results. but if you have a look on www.ucas.ac.uk then you will be able to see which universities offer law and to see what the entry requirements are. My ex- uni, University of Birmingham does not require law students to have studied law at a-level, but again every uni is different and you need to check out the entry requirments- best place is on www.ucas.ac.uk

Why don't you contact the Canadian Bar Association? They should be able to answer all your questions.

Social security eligibility requirements do they take a law degree to get?

We Answered:

I'm not sure what you are asking, but if you are asking if you need a lawyer to file for social security benefits, then the answer is no. Your friend should be able to file for benefits with the local Social Security Office, which they can look up on http://www.ssa.gov. They can also call the Social Security Administration (SSA) to make a claim (1-800-772-1213) or, depending on the type of benefit, file a claim online at SSA's website.

If however a claim is denied and your friend needs to appeal a decision, it would be a good idea to seek out legal assistance. You probably don't need a lawyer to file an appeal, but your chance of success will be much better if you have one. Legal Services in your community can probably help, and will be low cost or free.
