Life Experience Degrees Accredited

Micheal Said:

What is the best well known most accredited university to give me a degree?

We Answered:

The only way to get a degree that is worth something is to study for it. Qualifications awarded for life experience are not worth anything and are not recognised by anyone. If you don't have time to study now, wait until you do have time then go to a proper school and study hard.

Anthony Said:

How valid & approved are Degrees awarded basing on LIFE/WORK EXPERIENCE mainly as a basis for Higher studies?

We Answered:

These universities that claim to award degrees based on life experiences are suspect. As with any school your considering attending, you need to their credentials. The most important thing to check is accreditation. Council for Higher Education Accreditation ( http://www.chea.org/search/default.asp ) is an organization that is government sponsored that maintains a listing of regionally accredited colleges and universities. Check out there database and see if the school your interested in is really accredited. If it isn't then I would avoid it plague.

Brent Said:

Person getting a B.A. degree online for life experience and work, how to prove if the company is accredited?

We Answered:

To the best of my knowledge, there are no legitimate colleges that award degrees (other than honorary) based solely on life experience.

To check accreditation of any school in the U.S., go to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation website at http://www.chea.org
Click on Databases and Directories and then click on the first link under that heading. That should take you to a page where it will ask you to agree to their terms. From there, you will be able to search using the school's name. This link should take you there also. http://www.chea.org/search/search.asp

Good luck,

Life Experience College Degree?

We Answered:

Err, those are 'made up' accreditations. I can just open up my own accrediting firm and online institution in a State that doesn't prohibit such things and offer you a 'lifetime' degree with the same statement. Just print yourself your own degree if you're going to do that. No difference, and you save yourself a ton of money. Otherwise, go to a real college and start at the bottom like everyone else does.

Life Experience Degrees...What's the catch?

We Answered:

It's a diploma mill; don't buy into it! I just read this article on Yahoo about so-called online universities offering "life experience degrees." Read it and send it onto your friends. If you really want to do an online degree, try to pick a school that is a brick and mortar school offering an online program (Boston University, George Washington U, etc)--you will get more respect in the job market. As for your situation, stay as far away from the "life experience degrees"! Good luck.

If you don't wanna click, here is the copy/pasted question:

Q: What is a "diploma mill" and how can I spot one?

A: Online "diploma mills" are websites that offer degrees without requiring you to complete any coursework. They often advertise degrees earned based on your past life experiences. According to USA Today, diploma mills are a $500 million-a-year industry. For a fee of $50 to $5,000, you can purchase a diploma and transcript from a non-accredited college. Often the colleges exist in name only, and their names are designed to sound like familiar colleges and universities. Penalties for using one of these phony diplomas are mounting. Two states, Oregon and New Jersey, have made it illegal to apply for jobs using bogus degrees. Even those people who are able to snag a job based on false credentials have no guarantee that they can keep it because they have none of the training they would have acquired in a legitimate online degree program.

Crystal Said:

can I get an Accredited degree based on my Work / Life Experience?

We Answered:

no not a degree, but Wisdom is the better then a degree.

Nellie Said:

can you really get an accredited college degree on line , using life experience?

We Answered:

You can get a degree online for merely paying money.

Some of these online degrees are even accredited - but they are "accredited" by unknown accreditation associations (probably invented by the people offering the online degrees).

There is no such thing as a truly accredited and respectable online degree that counts life experience as sufficient for the attainment of that degree.

Discuss It!
