Masters Degree In Computer Science

Victoria Said:

Should I go on for a Masters degree in Computer Science or train for certifications?

We Answered:

Get an MBA. If your undergrad is in CS you need the business skills now, not more computer skills. The programming is going overseas. You need the business acumen and project planning to compete now.

Jonathan Said:

What do people do with a masters degree in Computer Science?

We Answered:

The previous answer is a joke. I have both my bachelors and masters degrees in Computer Science, and work as a software engineer for a major defense contractor. I'm well on my way towards working my way into a software architecture/systems engineering position, and my job prospects look only better and better over the next 10-15 years. If you can find a job that will pay for you to get your masters part-time, that's ideal. But either way, getting the masters pays.

Andrew Said:

How can I get MBA in a new business school after I graduated in Masters degree of Computer Science?

We Answered:

You'd be a strong candidate since even though your undergrad gpa is rather low, your first graduate degree will be what's noticed. You will need to take the GMAT and score high though, to be considered at good schools. Biz schools really love candidates that have technical backgrounds so you'll fit in just fine and shouldn't have any problem with the coursework.

Shannon Said:

How many years would a masters degree in Computer Science take?

We Answered:

I would say about 2 years. I have a bachelors in Sociology and I decided to get my masters in computer science. It took me 2.5 years because my undergrad was different and I had to take a bunch of prerequisites.

Here is the funny thing. It would have taken 89 credit hours for me to get a BS in Computer Science. I decided the 39 hours of grad school would be time better spent. :-)

Edwin Said:

What are good Canadian universities for a computer engineering / computer science masters degree ?

We Answered:

the University of Waterloo in Waterloo Ontario Canada has one of the best computer programs in the world. Bill Gates has visited the university several times, top students are recruited by major companies right after graduation, and they have a Co-Op program giving their students a leg up over kids from other schools. (if your grades are good the Co-ops can be amazing i knew a kid IMB flew to Florida to work for them for four months and they were paying him like king!). There are a ton of international students at Waterloo and both their computer science and computer engineering programs are the best in North America. It is a VERY competitive school the programs are hard and really hard to get into, but if your grades are good go for it!
