I don't know of any completely online programs to become a medical assistant. Some people I believe take medical terminology online but I personally don't think it's the same. Before she invests the money she needs to find out if it includes an externship and if employers will even hire graduates of this program.

In general the least expensive programs would be the local junior college, adult school and ROP programs. The most expensive programs are the private schools but some students make it there when they struggled with the public schools. Many schools have evening and/or Saturday options so she could work and go to school at the same time.

There are many universities offering online degrees in the fields specified by you. But what matters is that the university should be accredited. Only courses done from accredited colleges or universities are legitimate and employers look for such certifications.

In my area, over half of the Medical Assistants from the local school never end up working in any health care field at all. An MOA with ten years experience makes $10-$12 an hour. The job benefits, insurance and such, generally suck.

98% of LPN get a job with 4 weeks of graduation and 75% are still in the field in 10 years and are making $15-$18 dollars an hour. Plus the benefits for licensed nurses (LPN & RNs)tend to be pretty good.

99.9% of RNs have a job before they graduate. They start at about $21.50 and hour at graduation and make $27.50-$31.00 an hour. Plus shift differential, over time, etc. PRN float pool can clear up to $50 an hour weekend nights.

So tell me, why do you want to be a MOA? LPN only takes about a year.

I don't know if anything like that will be legit. I am a RMA and I know for a fact you are going to have to learn venipunctures, bps, ekgs, ect. and do clinicals at a doctor's office or clinic and I have a diploma as well and it took about 9 months. What is wrong with a on site campus school? You still want to careful with that because if you would want to transfer those credits, it won't happen more than likely. I am in nursing school and I have to take all those classes over because those schools aren't accredited by the same organizations as most nursing schools are.
