Nursing Degree Courses
Marc Said:
Does Ivy Tech offer online courses for a degree in Nursing? We Answered:
Ask them. Make sure they are accredited or your degree could be worthless. Just because you can get a government loan doesn't mean the institution is an accredited college. Good luck.Kent Said:
Can I take any online pre-requisite courses for a nursing degree? We Answered:
I would do a search for online schools or check out the programs at the schools in your state. Can I ask what type of degree you have to get the job you have? It sounds like a great job. To do that job in my state you must already be an RN and have lots of exp.Victoria Said:
Can I get bachelors degree nursing, and obtain physical therapy license at the same time with same courses? We Answered:
No, the course work is entirely different. You can certainly obtain your BS in nursing, but you must go back to finish the prerequisite courses for applying to the graduate level PT program. Then, there would be an additional 3 years in the PT program. I imagine to do both would take about 8 years.Michael Said:
Any nurses in da house? :P - Would you say nursing courses/degrees are extrememly difficult & what sector is .?We Answered:
Nursing school is hard. At least until you get out and start working, then you realize that the actual job is a lot harder than nursing school was.12 hour rotating shifts throw your body off (which is why I am still up at 0124 on my day off). You never have as much time for your patients as you would like. There's always the stress of knowing that if you make a mistake you could potentially kill someone. It's very fast paced, and very physically demanding work. But even with all of that(and more) I still love my job.
If Nursing is what you want to do, go for it. Yes you need math and science, and yes it is not easy getting through school, but if you really want it you work hard and you get through it.
THe courses are the same no matter what area of nursing you want to specialize in. A few of my classmates went in knowing exactly what area they wanted to work in, but you will rotate through psych, peds, med-surg, etc . Good luck!

Can a RN with an associate degree teach nursing or any other medical courses? We Answered:
You need teaching certification to teach public school (K-12) but you also need a bachelor more more in the subject you want to teach, and they don't offer nursing. You don't need teaching certification to teach at the college level, but you DO need as least a masters degree in your field (PhD preferred). Sorry, you can't teach college with less than a masters in any field, including nursing. Here are some job postings for more info on what they require. http://www.higheredjobs.com/faculty/sear…Donald Said:
How many hours a week is a nursing degree? We Answered:
The weeks I'm at uni vary. Some weeks I'm in for 2 days, some weeks it's 5 days, generally 9am-4pm. But even on the weeks where I'm only in for 2 days there is such a lot of study to get on with I'm either studying at home or I go into the uni library. We were told on our first week that basically it's a 35 hour week minimum. We also get a lot less holidays than other students, only 7 weeks so we are a much harder working bunch, lol. Good luck with your course!Constance Said:
