Occupational Therapy Degree

Betty Said:

Anybody know anything about online healthcare degrees to be specific-masters of occupational therapy degree?!?

We Answered:

I have looked into on-line education for something not related to the medical field. Irregardless...you MUST make sure it is an accredited school and one which is accepted by a local medical board. There are lots of scams out there. Make sure you fully research. Even if you learn the material...if the school is not 'recognized' by anyone you are basically screwed.

Lauren Said:

Does anyone in Tampa want to persue a degree in Occupational Therapy?

We Answered:

USF has the best Public Health program in Florida, and one option is Environmental and Occupational Health, with concentrations available in Safety Management, Occupational Health, and Industrial Hygine. I know it's not EXACTLY what you're looking for, but it might be worth looking into if you want to stay in Tampa.

Occupational Therapy Degree - Please Help?

We Answered:

Ugh. I just looked on the aota website. There are no programs close to Tampa. But, if you go to their website, link below, at the bottom of the page is a link to a .pdf file that lists programs that offer distance education. Some have very low residency requirements. Distance ed is not my first choice, but it can work. One of them is FIU in Miami, and Fla Gulf Coast U in Ft Meyers. Lots of state universities on that list, so you know it's legit.

I don't know if you're married to the idea of being an OT, but there's an orthotics and prosthetics program at St Pete College (I'm in St Pete). It's the only program of its kind in Florida, and there's a huge market for O & P.

Good luck!

Normally you have to get A Bachelors degree is a related field and then get your Masters in Occupational Therapy (MOT). A friend of mine just got his MOT from Temple University in Philadelphia PA and he loved his program. Here is a link to the website:

Roberta Said:

Is it possible to get a joint masters degree in occupational and physical therapy?

We Answered:

I'm fairly certain that this is not possible. If I were you I would get the PT degree and work towards a specialization - there are several areas a PT can get specialized in. Look on the APTAs website to learn more at

www.apta.org

There is also a lot of information on different PT programs on the website that you may want to check out.

Good luck!

Jim Said:

can you earn a bachelor's degree in occupational therapy?

We Answered:

Many occupational therapists have a Bachelor's in Physiological Sciences before they get their Master's in occupational therapy. Most universities will only offer OT degrees as a masters and not a bachelor's.
