One Year Degree

Alice Said:

Is there a pay difference between a Dental Hygienist with a 2 year degree and one with a 4 year?

We Answered:

Not in our offices. The starting pay grade is the same. I have never seen a difference in the quality of the procedures performed by each type of hygienist. In fact in every dental office I know of ,they start off on the same basis. Future raises are determined on performance of your duties and what extra you contribute to the practice.

Can you Get a 4 year degree at one college and then transfer to a grad school?

We Answered:

Actually, that is generally how it is done to show a more rounded education.

Christina Said:

Hi, Can i know from which university i can do one year bachelor's degree?

We Answered:

I think this is why your Prime Minister recently blasted Indian universities for shoddy performance. You obviously cannot learn much in one year, which would make your degree worth little more than a mail-order diploma.

One or Two Year Degree Programs Online?

We Answered:

I agree with the first poster that an online associate degree is probably your best choice. With an associate you can go compete for jobs like court reporting, medical billing and coding, computer helpdesk assistant, etc.

This big ugly link: http://www.careerinfonet.org/oview1.asp?…

...takes you to a site that lets you see what jobs the government expects will grow fastest. You can sort by education level and see what fast-growing jobs require an associate degree, so you can get a feel for what jobs might match your interests while also offering a decent living and a better chance of open positions.

One school I know of that offers associate degree programs designed to transfer to a bachelor degree later is American InterContinental University Online: http://www.aiuonline.edu. It is a regionally accredited school.

Whatever school you choose should be regionally accredited, or credits may not be worth anything to other schools! Always check with the accrediting body and the department of education website to see if the school's accreditation is legitimate.

Good luck.

Jon Said:

why do they call bachelor's degree 4 year degree when almost no one finishes it in 4 years?

We Answered:

I have never heard it called the 4 year degree.

But the curriculum is set up so that it can be attained in that time frame. I could have done it in 4 years had I continued.

My brother got his BA in 4 years and held various jobs at the same time.

The way to do it is to know exactly what your goal is and to take the appropriate classes to arrive at that goal.

The reason a lot of people take longer is because they keep changing their major. Then they have to take other classes.

What are good paying one year degree careers?

We Answered:

Mostly two years...Dont be in a rush slow down. Nursing at some community college is 2 years. Pharmacy is six. Medical Asssistant is normally 2. I think you may be stuck with 2 years. I cant think of any that are one year degrees.
