Online degrees are becoming mainstream and generally well accepted in the industry. I was enrolled in Embry Riddle’s Professional Aeronautics Degree - Distant Learning Program (correspondence) before their online degrees were even created.

Today, most (if not all) major universities have partial and in some cases entire degree programs delivered online. Furthermore, there are many reputable and accredited distant learning (online and correspondence) only universities with a diverse choice of degree programs. At present, I’m completing a MBA via DL.

In my experience, most employers view online degrees in a positive light. In fact, most of my post-secondary education has been completed via distant learning (DL) and it has never been an issue.

The career choices in the aviation industry are plentiful. As in my case, you can become a pilot; or maybe an air traffic controller, aeronautical engineer, transportation logistics manager, safety manager, dispatcher, scheduler manager, flight instructor, aviation law specialist, etc.

no its not free
you must study alone, taking notes through the internet from the course conductors and working out assignments by yourself (of course) sent to you via mail and an examiner from the UNI you're doing it with corrects it and posts is back to you..exams with take place most probably at the UNI itself though.

I am terribly sorry, but there are absolutely no reputable PhD programs online. Doctoral level study is about being in a community of scholars, attending lectures and seminars, and working closely with a internationally-regarded senior scholar and mentor. This is simply not duplicable online.

In general, online degrees are very poorly regarded within academia. Most universities would never hire someone who had earned a degree online.
