Online Electrical Engineering Degree

Sam Said:

How do you get hands on experience with online degrees?

We Answered:

LOL don't listen to those fools. People in a professional would laugh at an EE degree from Devry. Don't go to the for-profit schools like that.

Morris Said:

Is it worth getting a degree in mechanical engineering?

We Answered:

well, the sorts of jobs you can expect pay various amounts, from starting pay straight out of uni with no experience at about £26,000, to top aerospace design engineers working for major companies around £300,000 or more even.

but as a few people have mentioned, its not about the money for mechanical engineers, as relative to the amount of information we need to know the job is paid a lot more sparingly than, for example, someone in business. the personal reward is high, you can claim your part to mechanical engineering feats, like 'hey, i helped get that plane into the air', or 'i designed the manifolds for that helicopter'.

but to answer your question, yes, it is. the money on the grand scheme of things, is well paid. aerospace in particular is well paid due to the constant need for aircraft up-keep and new designs. if you love mechanical engineering, there will be nothing more rewarding in your whole life. if youre doing it because you want a well paid job and dont particularly enjoy the maths/physics, then dont bother, it will eventually grind you down as its a constantly demanding occupation that will challenge you frequently.

PS: and yea, i think for what we need to know, we are VERY underpaid. ask yourself this: with a years training, could you be a politician? but with a years training, do you think it could work the other way around?

Carmen Said:

How can I get an Electrical engineering degree when I work full time during the day?

We Answered:

I did it. A lot of us did it going to school at night. At San Diego State University most of us worked during the day, so they held many of the classes at night. I think you will find it so at yours.

It is not easy, but it will sure be worth it. Your family may have to make a few sacrifices. But they will be grateful in the end.

It was soooo worth it!

Online Masters degree.?

We Answered:

You are fortunate that your employer wants you to get the MBA. Together with your engineering experience, it's a great combination. You may first want to check with your employer if the company will be willing to curtail your travel during the MBA program, or schedule it to fit the program. You are always better off in a classroom setting than on-line.

If that is not possible, a number of accredited schools now offer on-line MBA programs. Before you decide on an MBA program explore the Internet for information on available programs. There is a lot of information available in free public service sites. Some sites are limited to specific countries, such as Germany, UK, or Australia. Some list a small number of select schools, while others may include more than 2,000 MBA programs listed worldwide. You can find the program that best fits you. You can search for programs by location (US, Europe, Far East, etc.), by concentration (finance, marketing, aviation management, health management, accounting, etc.), by type of program (full-time, distance learning, part-time, executive, and accelerated), and by type of degree (MBA, MS, Ph.D). In some cases you can select your own criteria and preferences to get a list of universities that satisfy your needs.

You can find data on entrance requirements, program costs, program characteristics, joint degrees such as MBA/JD, and much more. Some sites have links to the schools' web sites, or provide email addresses to contact schools of your choice, and send them pre-applications. You can find lists of top schools ranked by various periodicals or ranked by starting salaries of graduates, GMAT scores, and other criteria. Generally you should stay away from any sites that require you to pay to get information or that promise to find scholarships for you or ensure acceptance into a program. Before you provide any personal information to a site, be sure to read their privacy policy and make sure they are not harvesting email addresses for sale.

Is the Engineering School from Walden University accredited by any Institution?

We Answered:

I believe that Walden is accredited.

Since it is a For profit corporation that accepts nearly anyone, it is not respected.

Discuss It!
