Online Medical Assistant Degree

Fernando Said:

What are some routes I can take to become a dental hygienist?

We Answered:

I would check into colleges or universities that have adult education programs, most do now. Do a search for Dental hygienist and medical assistant - that's you best bet.

I have almost completed LeTourneau University TEACH program through adult education. The program took me 2 years and one month.
The majority of my classes met on Wednesday night 5pm to 10,pm, the online classes were mainly 6 to 8 weeks long.

Community colleges have adult programs as well. Best wishes

Blessings

How much more does a Medical Assistant with an Associates Degree make compared to one without a degree.?

We Answered:

Stormy, it's best to go to a regular school as opposed to an online on. Many so called on-line MA courses are scams.

Here in Chicago, MA's make anywhere from $14-16 an hour with or without an Associates --

Of course other states may vary in pay. Some states pay you LESS as a medical assistant, so MA's here in the windy city consider themselves lucky to be making what they do.

Good luck and best wishes in your career

The only fully online dental assisting program I am aware of is at Monroe Community College in New York. They offer a one-year certificate in Dental Assisting:

Ricardo Said:

I have an Associate degree in Medical Assistant. I want to become a Registered Nurse?

We Answered:

You have to get an Associates in Nursing to get a RN.

You need to go to a local community college and talk to them

Tell them you are a CNA, and you want to get an ADN/RN

Some of your classes will transfer. It may not even take you the full two years to complete.

I know alot of people who were CNA's working on ADN/RN at the hospital where I volunteered.

Adrian Said:

what is the difference between certified medical assistant and an associates degree in medical assistant?

We Answered:

The true "certified" means you have taken & passed the national MA exam. Now, between the 2 programs; one gives you a "certificate" of completion (but you can not call yourself a "certified MA" with out passing the exam) and the other gives you the educational degree called an Associates (that's why it takes longer; you have to do the requirements for an academic degree). If you plan to go further in life, say to a bachelors; an associates is part of the way there. A certificate program is what it is--no advancement is possible with those classes.

A Degree that includes Medical Administration and Medical Assistant?

We Answered:

The only school that I would consider taking online courses are those that are offered at a community college or major four year college or major university. Please steer clear of those online, for-profit schools (some have 'bricks and mortar' buildings and are 'accredited') such as penn foster, ITT tech, everest, sanford brown, ashworth, capella, university of phoenix, kaplan, walden, argosy, stratford career, devry, US career, strayer and others as they are merely out to 'make a profit' (and course credits may not transfer): http://www.ripoffreport.com and can type into search.

Please note that there aren't supposed to be too many jobs for the MA (or medical biller or coder) despite what those private $$ tech schools proclaim. With the numerous training programs, the field is saturated. If still interested in training for medical assistant or medical office manager (basically what medical administration is with a certificate or associate degree :) please opt for the more affordable county vo-tech school or community college as long as it's accredited within the industry.
