I'm assuming by "psych doctor" you mean you want to be a psychiatrist and not a psychologist, right? (I ask, because to get a doctorate in psychology you don't go to medical school.)

I'm not sure if an online degree is strictly impossible (although it does need to be nationally accredited), doing an online degree is a very, very bad idea if you plan on going to medical school.

Right now about 60% of people who apply to medical school don't get in *anywhere*...meaning they need to reapply the following year or not go into medicine. So you need to be doing things to maximize your chances of being in that lucky 40%. Where you go to school matters a lot for medical school....they are looking for the top students from the most academically rigorous and challenging schools in the country. Which simply doesn't describe online degrees. (I don't mean to bash them, they're great for some people, but not for premeds.) Let me put it another way...most medical schools frown upon students taking any of the premed courses even at the community college level, nevermind online.

But perhaps more important, going to the toughest and "best" college is also important for yourself...medical school and medicine itself is tough, and you need to have the best foundation possible going into medical school. You also have to have a love and passion for learning...becoming a doctor means many years of education and training and requires that you be motivated to continue reading and studying throughout your career.

Furthermore, several of the courses you are required to take in college as med school prereqs are lab classes....which is simply impossible do online. You also need to have extracurricular activities (ideally with leadership positions) and get stellar letters of recommendation from faculty....which is also difficult to do with an online degree.

Finally, why do you want to do your degree online? College is an incredible, important experience...and not just for the academics. The social and psychological aspect is also important, and I think the experience of meeting new people with new ideas and different backgrounds is key for developing cultural awareness and personal maturity. If it's because of time or money, there are many alternative ways to get your bachelors that would put you in a much better position for med school.

The answer above is correct, the lab requirement would kill your chances. Plus there's a real prejudice against online schools and medical school admissions are notoriously competitive.
