are all known to be very generous with transfer credit (accredited credit), have no residency requirements, are regionally accredited, and have very flexible degree programs.

With these, you can do your coursework wherever you'd like and transfer the credit back for the degree. This means you could take some Berklee courses, maybe some online Harvard and UC-Berkeley courses, maybe some at BYU and LSU (they're the cheapest online for upper levels) and combine all of the courses for the degree.

They also allow considerable testing for credit using CLEP/DANTES/ECE exams.

There are certain majors that you just CAN'T do online. How can you really learn techniques without a professor in the room listening to tone and color of each note? Sorry, you may have a good audio system on your computer, but not for the type of rigorous training that you would want from a music degree. And, people in the industry that would be looking to hire you at the end will know this, too.

Berklee School of Music in Boston has just started offering music classes online. That is a really prestigious school so I might check that out if I were you.

Since their online program only consists of music courses, though for credit, your certificates could add up to a diploma from the school at most. To earn a Bachelor of Music degree which you could obtain attending the actual university you would need to have enough credits in General Education as well as the specialized music courses.
