Online Sports Management Degrees

Heather Said:

how long does an online degree in sports management take if you go full time?

We Answered:

You should definitely consider attending an online college. Although some might say an online degree will be easier to earn, or will not be respected by employers, that is simply not the case.

Your degree will be identical to the degree conferred upon traditional brick-and-mortar students... and as an online student myself, I can assure you, the programs are every bit as rigorous!

If you pursue your degree full-time (and currently have zero college credits), you can probably earn your entire bachelor's degree in 2 1/2 years. There are several ways to accelerate your degree: take, accelerated 8 week classes, attend summer sessions, use credit by examination (CLEP, DANTES/DSST exams) to earn an entire semester of college credit, and many accredited universities allow you to earn college credit for military, life, and work experience (keep in mind, this isn't an easy way out, you must prove that you have the experience, provide references, submit copies of training when applicable, etc.).

Does anyone have information on how i can get an internship with a college or pro team in New Orleans?

We Answered:

By making it happen. Contact the front office; DAILY. If you know anyone even remotely involved, use this as a "spring board".

Here's a true story:

I became friends with a young lady in Mexico, who was working in our IT department part time, and going to school full-time.

She knew someone who worked in the department, and began following him into work. She just started doing favors for folks, who thought she worked there, and was getting paid.

The supervisor soon began assigning her projects, whose progress required monthly reviews.

It wasn't until a few months had passed, while ranking her among her "peers", the manager couldn't find her records. She had no employee number, and no one even knew how she was able to enter a secured facility. So, they hired & began paying her, and started paying her college tuition. Within two years, she'd finished her undergraduate schooling, and was promoted; making her an engineer. She now worked full-time, and continued nights.

Today she's married, and lives here in the USA. She finished her Masters degree, and works for an IT firm in Boston (she's actually on maternity leave :).

Define your goal, think of it as a magnet. If you stay focused on the goal, you'll see all issues as nothing more than clutter, that you'll walk past or over.

And DO IT WITH ENTHUSIASM!

Keep us posted...Good Luck!
