I would definitely make sure that any college you are considering is regionally accredited and that you contact a number of schools. Too often people choose to enroll in the first online college they find rather than contacting a number of schools to find the best fit. The beauty of getting a degree online is that your school choice is not limited by geography.

It depends on which country. Under English Law, there is no legal requirement to study Law in order to call yourself a Solicitor. In my opinion, there is no point because, in UK, there is no such thing as this degree. There is no Uni that offers this course. However, there are several UK Unis where you can study Law,

Well there are quite a few different schools in which you can get your paralegal degree online. Kaplan University in Florida being one of them. Be extremely careful though not to load up on classes. Online and actually sit-in classes are two separate things and it can be quite overwhelming completing a full time semester online.

My caveat: I am currently employed as a construction litigation paralegal in the state of Texas. My answer is based on my current knowledge, experience and education in this field. I participate heavily in my local and state bar associations and attend 15-30 hours of continuing legal education in any given year.

With that said, I must implore that you do not waste your time and money on ANY online paralegal institution, certification program, associate’s degree program or online school. They are often more expensive than your traditional community college program, are not respected as a legitimate education in the legal field, and it is my experience that these programs produce sub-par paralegals/legal assistants. We hire and fire many paralegal interns. Out of the dozens we have attempted to employ, the “online” schooling just didn’t prepare or teach these individuals anything.

If you are seriously interested in becoming a paralegal, attend an ABA approved program. Every approved program is listed on the ABA website. Most of the approved programs offer online coursework, traditional coursework and night classes.

Do your research on the paralegal profession. Visit www.nala.org and www.paralegals.org. Seek out your local paralegals associations. Also, you might want to read up on California State’s educational requirements for paralegals. It won’t be long before more states impose the same standards.
