Part Time Degrees

Pauline Said:

Do any Australian uni's offer part-time/external degrees to become a sonographer?

We Answered:

I'm not sure. But I think you could get a faster answer to that if you went to the websites for Aussie universities and/or gave several schools a call. Good luck.

Billie Said:

how many hours a week does part time degrees take?

We Answered:

Depends on if the class is measuted in semester hours or quarter hours.

Generally speaking part time is considered less than 9 credit hours per sememster. It takes 5 quarter hours to equal 1 semester hour if my memory serves correctly.

So the short answer to your question is it depends. If you are a quick study you may spend less time working and studying. Generally 1 credit hour = 1 hour of class time but it's difficult to assess how many hours it will take you to meet the obligations of the classs.

Jimmy Said:

How many hours would a part time degree be? If I were to take two degrees, how many hours would that be a day?

We Answered:

Not too sure, as every course is different.
IF your uni would allow this, then i could imagine lots of problems, the biggest one would be time tables. what if both of your courses overlapped on a day, but you had to go to both classes etc?

Florence Said:

I want to re-train as a midwife, but I still need to work - are there any part time degrees i can do?

We Answered:

It doesn't seem so, you can only do the shortened programme if you are a trained nurse. http://search.ucas.com/cgi-bin/hsrun/sea…

Doing the midwifery degree you would be entitled to an NHS bursary plus a student loan if needed. As a parent you would receive a bit extra on your bursary. A lot of student nurse/midwives get jobs as bank carers at hospitals so they can fit work around their studies & family. You are also still entitled to Child Tax Credits whilst training.

I'm soon to be a student nurse myself & I would recommend the student nurse website for help & advice. They have a midwifery section & it's not just for current students, it's for people who want to train as well. Good luck.

How many hours a week does part time degrees take in college?

We Answered:

A part time load is generally less than 12 hours of classes per week. You are expected to spend 2 hours outside of class for every hour in class, so budget your time accordingly. a 3 hour course wail require 9 hours total commitment.
