Part Time Law Degree

Lee Said:

I work full time, and want to know if it is possible to study for a law degree in the UK?

We Answered:

Yes, why not do open university course, that seems the most likely choice. Actual universities term time starts in october and ends in june. aAll you will need to study a course is 5 gcses a*-c and 3 a levels. Preferrably law but not essential.

Jeremy Said:

Where can I take an International law degree part-time or through online learning?

We Answered:

Oxford University is teaching this substantially online now.

Be aware that International Law isn't a practitioner degree. The JD or LLB will be required for that; and so far, online options are both limited and relatively unsuccessful.

Anita Said:

How feasible is it to work full time in New York as a financial planner and take law school classes part time?

We Answered:

If you are already licensed CFP, law school is good especially in the corporate and taxation area. If you have a goal to be the best damn tax lawyer, your CFP will work well to your advantage. This might include an LLM in tax down the road.

Best to not have to travel too far to get to law school - save yourself time - maybe 1 subway switch at most.

Andre Said:

Is it possible to land a part-time low level legal job in the said industry half way through a law degree?

We Answered:

Yes, you are describing a law clerk position. This is basically a job where you do work that is above what a legal secretary does, but below what an attorney does. It usually involves doing legal research and drafting legal documents -- under the supervision of an attorney.

Most law students do this during the summer during their second and third years. The pay is pretty high for law clerks who work for larger law firms. You should try to do this if at all possible.

The other option is to work for the smaller law firms near your school throughout the year. The pay is low, but higher than minimum wage. Most law schools will only let you do this during your second and third years though. It can be good experience.
