Rn Degree Online

Ivan Said:

Can I get a RN degree online?

We Answered:

I doubt it. My sister is an RN. There are too many clinical labs nurses go through. You can't just be a nurse unless you have learned to give shots, IV's, feeding tubes, bathe patients, take blood pressures. She had to disect things. She had to student nurse at hospitals. She saw surgeries and was once assigned a pregnant lady to visit until time for her to give birth and she assisted with the birth. It is not just book knowledge.

Olga Said:

Has anyone had any luck with a Rn degree online?

We Answered:

NEVER, I went to school for it, I've seen many RN's with "that" degree and they are looked down upon, and it hurts you hiring chances. Plus I do notice that their skills suck!

I had a girlfriend who did it and when I told my manager about her and her "experience" she said, never mind, she'd rather hire a new grad that graduated from an actual school.

Just make sure you have confidence to put it down on your resume and be prepared to be asked "what nursing school did you go to", I've always been asked, every single time by all the nurses, if it's a good one then they love you, if it's online they lose respect for you. Just be careful, nursing can be sooooo catty! You work with a bunch of women. If you make a mistake they will be like "well she got her degree online". I understand the waiting period is long.

Have you tried to get admitted to a school that accepts only the best top % of the applicants, I did and got in right away, no waiting!!

where can i go to get my Rn degree online in Michigan?

Part of the cirriculum is clinical experience. How are you going to do that on line???

Dolores Said:

Could someone tell be if there is an online school for LPNs to get an RN degree?

We Answered:

There is no program that you will find 100% online - there are going to be on-campus classes for skills components and of course there will be on-site clinicals in hospitals. You might find a program with some of your theory classes online, but don't expect too much. Many states' boards of nursing require actual seat time in order to be eligible for boards.

Check into local, public state universities or community colleges first. You're always better off paying in-state tuition and having a campus nearby where you can meet with faculty if you need to. Steer clear of the for-profit schools like Phoenix and if I'm not mistaken Excelsior is another one (someone will tell me if I am wrong). ;)
For profit schools are just that - out to make a quick buck off from you, and to do it, they often con you by offering many online classes and charging extra fees, which they rationalize as "you're paying for the convenience of taking these flexible classes" when you can often find many of the same courses online from your local public universities for half the cost.

Good luck!

Audrey Said:

How can I get an LPN or RN associates degree online? I can only seem to find Bachelors and Masters degrees.?

We Answered:

You can't find LPN or RN program online because I don't believe they exist, you will have to go in-class to get any of these two degrees because there are clinicals you have to do during these two (LPN or RN) programs and those can not be done without going to hospitals and stuff through the college or wherever the program is offered. But, once you get your RN associates degree there are tons of RN to MSN or RN to BSN programs offered online and you can pretty much pick and choose from them depending on your choice. I hope this helps.
