How to find requirements for teaching in Indiana? We Answered:
Try this site belonging to the Indiana Department of Educationhttp://www.doe.in.gov/
You may also try this one, called teacher portal
and this particular link includes Indiana teacher requirements.

You only need a bachelors degree from any accredited college,
but you must move forward from that to gain your teacher's certification if you did not obtain it in college. Part of that process
will involve passing Praxis exams and you may have to go back to
school to obtain teacher certification/licensure. I'm thinking this will
be absolute at the elementary level as you are working with younger
students. At the secondary level, it is sometimes easier to get
alternative certification without going to a college of education if you
can pass you Praxis (National Teachers Exam) subject exam on the
subject area you wish to teach

Recent Grad, Teaching question, Degree requirements / Certification? We Answered:
You really need to contact the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for your state. Education is generally overseen by each state (except some federal laws of course) and each one has it set up differently. My teaching certificates are for Missouri - I can't go teach in Iowa or Illinois without contacting their DESE and fulfilling their requirements.Since you are a recent grad, I would suggest your first step into contacting your university's education dept (if they have one). There is always a certification specialist there to look at what courses you have taken, and what you will need to take.
If your university does not have an Education Dept, then contact your state's Department of Elem. and Sec. Education.
In Missouri anyway, teaching 5th grade in general requires a certificate in Elementary Education. Teaching PE is a separate certificate in Physical Education.

Anyone know what the university degree requirements are to teach high school? We Answered:
At the University of Minnesota Morris where I attend, I am majoring in Social Science with a focus in History to teach History in high school. After I complete my gen eds for the social science I will apply into the education program and have at least a year in that with just ed classes. When I am finished with that I apply for my teaching license and then I will start looking for teaching jobs.Heidi Said:
