Types Of College Degrees
Mathew Said:
types of college degrees?We Answered:
An Associate Degree (either an AS or an AA, for Associate of Arts or Associate of Science) generally takes 2 years. A Bachelor's Degree (either BA or BS) usually have 4 year plans, but many students take longer to finish. BS degrees, especially BS degrees in the sciences and engineering are sometimes referred to as actually being 5 year degrees because of the amount of material covered.The difference between a BS/AS and a BA/AA is that an Arts degree will have less of a focus on your major and more of a focus on giving you a broad, varied education. A Science degree will involve more specialization in your chosen major.

Types of College Degrees...Help!!?We Answered:
Associate = 2 year degreeBachelors = 4 year degree OR associates + 2 years
Masters = bachelors + 2-3 years
PhD = bachelors + masters + 2-6 years
These are all assuming you're a full-time student. If you're not taking a full credit load (usually 4 classes a semester) it will take longer, and transferring or failing usually makes a degree take longer as well. If you start with an associates, you can apply those credits to a bachelors, so you could finish a bachelors in only two more years - but credits from a bachelors or associates won't count towards a masters or PhD (doctorate).

Is advertising, multimedia, graphic design, etc. type of college degrees a good idea?We Answered:
hey the entire US is composed of multimedia and advertising, and almost everything and anything involves some type of graphic design though you may not realize it. Anyone of those are great majors. Maybe complement it with a really good minor too like Marketing. They need advertising and multimedia people because how else would they sell their company without?Jack Said:
I'm trying to make sense of the different types of college degrees. Do you know any good resources?We Answered:
There are tests that you can take on-line that can help identify what types of careers may be good for you. Search for one. I went into healthcare as a nurse. That was 8 years ago, now I have decided to switch into healthcare administration. You will always have a job in healthcare.Catherine Said:
What are the different types of college degrees?We Answered:
Bachelor's and Master's have been answered...Ph.D. (Doctorate of Philosophy) is an advanced degree that requires years of concentrated research in your field and rigorous presentation/defenses. It usually takes 5 - 7 years beyond your basic bachelor's degree. Sometimes they're funded, but sometimes you may have to pay for it yourself. It all depends on the field.
Most professors in colleges have their PhD.
A major is your area of study for a Bachelor's degree. A minor is another area of study in addition to the major. For instance, say your major is chemistry. Maybe 60% of your classes are chemistry related. Say you want a minor in art history. You may have 20% of your classes in art history. Not all universities require that you have a minor. The other 20% are classes that all college students have to take (it depends on your university).
The higher the degree, the more $ you can make, in general.

What is the difference between all the different types of college degrees? Ex. bachelors,masters..........?We Answered:
certificate programs. Usually one year or a few monthsTwo year degree's typically consist of 64 credit hours
Associate of General Studies
Associate of Arts
Associate of Science
4 year degrees typically consist of 128 credit hours
Bachelors of Arts
Bachelors of Science
Masters degrees typically take an additional two years beyond the bachelors degree. It depends on the field of study and school, just as most of the others do. This degree typically requires you to write a thesis with original research, however more and more are offered with a simple research paper required.
Masters of Arts
STM I think this is the masters of sacred theology
Masters of Science
Ed. D doctoral degree in Education
PhD Doctorate of Philosophy (top of the food chain)
There are many others specializing in medicine, sports, law, etc, however the above are most common, with the exception of the stm degree.
The primary difference in the Arts and Science degrees was once a matter of specialization in a subject. For example the Bachelors of science in Education requires many courses in Education and Psychology.
A recent trend is to put the science degree with the hard sciences and the arts with the soft sciences, which i think is a bad idea.

What are the differences in the different types of college degrees?We Answered:
An associates degree is a 2 year degree. A bachelors degree is a 4 year degree. The difference between a BA and a BS is just which subject you decide to major in. If you majored in biology, you would have an Associates in Applied Science (A.A.S) or a B.S depending on whether you studied for 2 or 4 years.
