What Is A Foundation Degree

Judy Said:

What can I do with a Foundation Degree in Animal Management when i would like to teach?

We Answered:

Generally speaking you have several "elective" hours you can apply to most any degree, regardless of what it ends up being. Now, the catch is, finding a school who will allow all the work you have completed to date toward a teaching degree (education degree actually). Perhaps you can tie into the Foundation Degree what you want to teach, if not, then you are likely stuck with having to take more classes than you really want to, whjich is the price we pay for not knowing what we want earlier in life.

What is the difference between a Foundation Degree and a Degree?

I have always thought that foundation degrees are for those who have an insufficient academic background to get onto the degree course programme. When i was researching for my course searches FD were 1yr in length and put you at a level which meant you could commence on the degree programme (providing you pass).
I would suggest its best to have a degree.

What qualification do you get at the end of an Art & Design foundation degree?

We Answered:

Most foundation degrees are a BTEC, so you get a pass, merit, distinction. (Or a referral or fail)

Mine was full-time. 4 and a half days (half day for lectures).
And its the same on my degree course too. Though I'm on a pretty intensive fine art course. Some degrees only have to turn up to uni a few times a week, its a bit different cause I'm all studio based.

9-4ish. Sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on how much work we have to do.
Not many people want to hire anyone for an hour or so each evening, and Saturdays. But give you lots of time off when you have an assignment due.
Hardly anyone in my class has managed to get a job with such un-regular hours. Just piling it all in in the holidays.

You can get EMA on foundation courses though.
I'm just living off a loan :/
