To achieve the certificate in hairdressing or beauty therapy learners will need to complete 8 units (including a GOLA test). To achieve the combined certificate in hair & beauty, they'll need to complete 10 units (including a GOLA test).

To achieve the diploma in hairdressing or beauty therapy learners will need to complete 13 units (including a GOLA test). To achieve the combined diploma in hair & beauty, they'll need to complete 13 units (including a GOLA test).

How is the qualification delivered and assessed?
For each of these qualifications, learners will be required to complete one assignment for each unit and one multiple-choice online (GOLA) test covering mandatory generic units. Assignments are externally set and internally marked and graded.

Progression
The natural route of progression would be to move on to either the Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy level 1 NVQ. Learners aged 16 or over may go straight to the appropriate level 2 NVQ. If learners are unable to obtain a suitable work placement, or have limited access to a realistic working environment, a level 2 Hair or Beauty Diploma is also a suitable choice.

First question is do you currently have your GED? You need to call your local state department of education in the state in which you reside and see what is recognized and what is not if you do not have your GED. Slick correspondence courses on line are not the GED Equivalent and you need to make sure you are not wasting your time.
The second place to look is after you obtain your GED , and contact the admissions office of the local college or community college you plan to attend. Make an appointment and talk to a counselor at the institution you plan to attend. As well you may be required to take an entrance examination to see what level your skills in certain subjects are and do not be offended if you are told that you may need some remedial work. Even High School grads find themselves getting help in math and english. Get a curricula from the school look it over and then go back to the counselor. I advise my students on my research project that internet courses that claim to be college accredations are often anything but, as well as most states do not recognize an OnLine GED. Be wary of those who promise fast track courses, those that will get you into a job within a few weeks or months. Do your homework, check out the service that is being offered by contacting your state department of education for the credentials of the school offering programs. As well check with the local better business bureau, as awkward as that sounds it will tell you volumes.
I wish you every success in the future and hope this has helped. The voice of experience here if I can help contact me here.
