Courses In Ireland

Marcia Said:

FAS courses, Ireland, recommended courses near Maynooth?

We Answered:

https://jobbank.fas.ie/servlet/Watis?SES…
shows the 4 courses which come under the heading of Animal / Land / Marine, and none are based in Maynooth.

Courses in Westmeath, Longford, Laois, Offaly, Kildare (119) - all bunched together at
https://jobbank.fas.ie/servlet/Watis?SES…
I only checked the outdoors-sounding ones, and none were in Maynooth. Among the other courses, there may be something near you.

There is a Amenity Horticulture Vocational Course in Baldoyle, others are in various rural locations. There are quite a few environment-type courses based in Garrycastle, Athlone.

There is an email address for Fás in Maynooth, and perhaps you could ask them if they have something suitable. http://www.vazumo.com/companydetails/104…

This website shows a huge range of courses, said to be in Fás Maynooth - but to be perfectly honest, I doubt if they are all available there http://www.learnpipe.ie/course/browse.ht…

The other possibility is a PLC course. I know several people who are doing a horticulture course near where I live, and new people started this week even though the course is 2 weeks under way.
It is run by the VEC, and you might find something suitable if you contact Kildare VEC - details at the bottom of the page at http://www.kildarevec.ie/?page_id=1007
There is a pdf list of their courses at http://www.kildarevec.ie/wp-content/uplo…
You might have to travel to Leixlip or Naas, but contacting the VEC should be your first move.

Good luck !!!

James Said:

Do British people consider Ireland a foreign country, just as say France is?

We Answered:

Ireland doesn't feel foreign in the same way somewhere like France does, probably because they speak the same language, have the same crap weather, use the same colloqualisms and because Dublin reminds me so much of Glasgow.

Michael Said:

What is the comparison between university courses in Northern Ireland and America?

We Answered:

Sorry, if it's not on the website then you're going to have to contact the school.

When I studied in the UK i found course descriptions in the university undergraduate catalog from the university I was going to be studying at. I had to take the descriptions and, if possible, the syllabi's for the courses to my department and get them approved by an adviser. DO NOT go overseas w/o getting your courses approved first! It is very possible you will spend lots of money taking courses over there and then find out they are not transferable.
