Diploma In Legal Studies

Shannon Said:

This decision will affect me forever and I'm torn?

We Answered:

I'd go with option one: interrupted studies. At least that way you'll still be making progress on your diploma. With option two it's too easy to get settled and just go on with life.

Can I get into Georgetown? If not, where can I go?

We Answered:

you have a shot but i wouldnt say a great one. i had a gpa similar to a 3.7, less activities than you do and decent test scores and i would have gotten rejected. try to make yourself stand out in whatever way you can. make sure you do a lot of prep work for the sats because thats what really determines if youre in.

How to get into the Legal Profession - Legal Executives?

We Answered:

I think that it might be a good idea to sign on as a legal temp and move around various firms and the legal departments of corporations, meeting people and (with any luck) impressing them favourably. At the very least it would give you some insight into the day by day life of a law firm. It means eating humble pie to some extent, but that's not too bad a diet when you are getting started!

Alberto Said:

where can I take a course on legal or paralegal secretary in Dublin?

We Answered:

It was quite a relief to find out which "Dublin" you wanted. One of the smallest is Dublin, Texas, USA, pop. 3672! I have many distant relatives in the Dublin area. One branch had to flee because of Robert Emmett's Rebellion.

There a many excellent universities in Eire, but I do not really know that much about them. In the US, paralegal programs are offered at community colleges and such. They offer the first two years of university work and you are able to transfer to a four-year university and complete your degree. I am not sure what the proper British or Irish term is. I know the vocabulary is different from ours.

Help with legal study/career? ?

These websites might help. http://www.londonexternal.ac.uk/prospect…

I think that your career adviser is talking about the general clearance system which enables people at this time of year to squeeze in as the result of courses which haven't a full take-up rate for various reasons. If you are joining a course this way, then it's a case of beggars being unable to be choosers. Why not take some time to earn more money and consider your next step rather than rush straight into things? We are coming up to the time of year when people submit their entry forms for next year's courses -- people who are in a position to pick and choose. It's going to be a real shock to the system to give up a job which keeps you going to be a full time student and you need to plan it and make sure that your sacrifice is for something good and worthwhile rather than for a place on a study course which other people didn't want to apply for. Remember too that if you decide to go ahead and obtain a professional qualification this will entail further years of penury and making ends meet. Don't be pressurised into making a quick decision until you have done your sums.
