Diploma In Medicine

Megan Said:

What high school diploma?

We Answered:

The US only grants one diploma that you can use to go to college, and that's the general high school diploma. We don't have an honors diploma. Credits will transfer if you took the same courses - US colleges usually require 4 years of English, 3 years of math, 3 years of science, 3 years of history, and 3 years of a foreign language to apply for college. Can't help you with anything outside the US.

Caroline Said:

What does someone need to do 1st to come here (US) to make use of a diploma they obtain in medicine in Africa?

We Answered:

You have actually asked a very complicated question. A big problem facing people who are doctors or are in the medical field in other countries is when they arrive to the US and how they can obtain a license in the US. Since the US really bars anyone who has not done an internship nor studied medicine in the US from working here, many doctors have to complete some type of medical school in the US and they also have to do an internship and sort of go through the entire process of becoming a doctor again.

You should check on your state government's website, like the Department of Health or the Division of Licensing or other office that handles such issues. They would be able to give you more in-depth information and you can find out about specific details.

The Florida Department of Health, Information for Health Professionals: http://www.doh.state.fl.us/HealthProfess…

Hope that helps. Good luck!

Getting into University of Toronto medicine with an IB diploma?

We Answered:

Speaking to my Wife, a U of T Alumnus who had been an IB student in highschool.
She says the important thing to know here is that U of T does not have a pre-Med program, and do not accept medical students direct from high-school.

As such, your IB score is highly unlikely to have an affect on your admissions to U of T faculty of medicine.

If you want to attend med at U of T you should aim for Biology or Bio-Chem as your under-graduate studies. It is important to know that U of T favours their own graduates for the medical program.

As long as you maintain average marks in an IB program U of T should accept you, however other Universities are known to give IB graduates advanced credits which U of T did not when she went. (2008 graduate)

Remember IB is more difficult to pull high marks in than a standard University prep course, and that different Universities and Colleges will give the IB more or less consideration for the grade spread created. Unfortunately, it's difficult to know which Universities are going to give IB the more positive review on marks.

I'm currently studying for my diploma in tropical medicine.?

We Answered:

I too wonder on the same question . Why such millions of weird creatures were created if He really loves the Man. People die daily from them. Doctors fighting with the immune system God is supposed to have given but fail in many of them.
