Diploma In Mental Health
Katrina Said:
Is a diploma in health and social care the equivalent............?We Answered:
HiAm I right in assuming that you're looking at a BTEC Diploma in Health and Social Care? The BTEC First Diploma is typically Level 2 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and the BTEC National Diploma is typically Level 3.
These would equate to NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 respectively.
A BTEC Diploma is traditionally a classroom-based qualification, often with some element of work-related experience. It provides underpinning knowledge and theory of the health and social care occupational sector.
An NVQ is primarily a work-based qualification. To complete an NVQ you would be expected to be working in a health and social care environment. Your NVQ portfolio would consist of evidence that occurs naturally in your day-to-day work, in addition to observation by your assessor at your place of work, and witness statements from colleagues/supervisors.
I hope this gives you a better idea of how these qualifications are related. If you have little or no experience of working in a health and social care environment, you would probably benefit more from studying the Diploma.
Sadly, I can't comment on salary expectations or the kind of work that you would be eligible to apply for.

can you do mental health nursing at uni if you have got Btec National diploma level 3 in health studies ?We Answered:
Generally speaking, only if it's combined with other qualifications,. It's not enough on it's own to get you in. You need to have a look at the entry requirements for the various uni's as they do differ slightly from uni to uni. http://search.ucas.com/cgi-bin/hsrun/sea…I'm a student nurse & I found the forum in this site useful when i was applying. http://www.studentnurse.org.uk/ It's worth a look even now.

I am a Adult Nurse (diploma) I want to become a Mental Health nurse How do I become dual registered? We Answered:
Try applying at a nursing home that specializes in mental health (older schizophrenics, dementia)...they are usually less stringent about certifications in mental health. And, that experience makes it easier to apply and qualify for acute hospital mental health positions.Good luck! Mental health is fascinating, and takes special people.
