Diploma In Teaching

Phillip Said:

Is American Montessori Insititute, Karachi PK diploma for teaching recognised in Canada?

We Answered:

I'm not sure whether or not the government would recognize it, but Montessori schools often won't unless it's AMI (Association Montessori International) or AMS (American Montessori Society). Contact them and see if they are members of either 2 organizations.

Whats the difference between a PGCE in Post Compulsory Education & Training & a Level 5 Diploma in Teaching?

We Answered:

Well a PGCE is a post graduate course which tends to mean that you do a degree before you continue onto that course. They usually last a year. The "Post Compulsory Education & Training" part (if you don't already know) means that you'd be qualified to teach "16-19 and adults in Further Education, Sixth Form and tertiary colleges, and also in adult and community education settings."

The diploma looks to be roughly the same. Although heriot watt university seemed to think the difference between diplomas and PGCE's was time. I recently dropped out of a Primary PGCE that lasted 9 months which is roughly what Heriot said the diploma would last.

Schools and colleges would definitely know what a PGCE but I doubt they'd rate it any higher or lower in estimations of capability of your teaching if that's what you're worried about. Teaching is as much about the practical and how you work in the classroom as it is how you perform in tests.

is it compulsory for a piano teacher to have a piano diploma in teaching???or can a grade 8 suffice?

We Answered:

If being done as a private tutor, then the answer is no. If you are expecting to obtain an accredited teacher, then yes. However, if you are seeking professional tutorship in playing piano, you want that person to have good references, otherwise, why pay them. Good luck.
