There are dozens of on line continuation programs available for free. Check your local school districts web sites. Look at credit recovery programs and alternative students. Check out a company called www.k12.com. You should not have to pay a GED. Call your local school districts and ask about adult ed programs.

The GED is the only way you can take a test and get something similar to (but not as good as) a diploma, and you can't take the GED online. All sites offering to let you do so are scams - they are not offering the real GED and claiming it as a real one on your resume is a felony in many states. Also, they tend to charge a lot more for it than the real test.

To take the real GED, you must be at least 18 in many states, and have officially dropped out of high school for a few months prior to taking the test. There are a few sites online that offer real high school diplomas, but be careful - most sites are scams for diplomas as well as GEDs. If they don't make you take classes, they're offering a fake diploma that won't be accepted. Basically, to get a real diploma online you'll be putting in as much work as you would by just staying in school, but you'll be paying for it. Just stay in school like everyone else.
