There are a few places you can attend to get a high school diploma online. However, DON'T GO TO BELFORD. It is a diploma mill and a degree from there would be worse than getting a GED. A GED isn't all that bad though. You may not gain entrance to the school of your choice right away, but you could attend community college for a couple of years and transfer.

Anyway, since you want a high school diploma online, the first thing I would do is check with your new school district to see if they participate in the Virtual School program. You can read more about it at http://www.govhs.org/ Your new school district has to participate in it though. In my opinion, this is the best option for you.

Other options are attending a high school program at a state university. These are online high school programs. Not all state universities have them though. Here are a few that I found:

I don't know how the classes are structured or if the instruction requires that you be online at a certain time or not. You will have to check with the school.

You will probably be provided with a syllabus and homework assignments. You will either mail these in or submit them online or through email. Tests will probably have to be proctored. Normally, a local community college, or library will be acceptable places to find a proctor. Your local community college should have a testing center and they will proctor tests for a small fee, usually close to $25.

How long the courses last and if you can go at your own pace depends upon the school and it's rules.

Yes, you can attend an online high school that is in a different state than the one you live in.

You can't get a GED online, so the real question is whether you are getting a legitimate high school diploma or a worthless piece of paper. I would be very careful. If you are planning on going to college, you might talk to an admissions person there and ask if they would accept a diploma from the organization you are considering.
