High School Diploma Canada

Mario Said:

Is my High School Diploma from the US valid in Canada?

We Answered:

In almost all cases, your high school diploma will be valid in Canada. Depending upon the high school subjects you took and your college major, you may be required to take some additional courses and entrance tests (usually English). The college courses you took here in the States will need to be accepted by the Canadian university in which you apply to transfer credits. It would be a good idea to get the course descriptions (e.g., a college catalog) from the school in the States where you took the courses to share when you apply to your Canadian school. In most cases, you can transfer at least the credits, if not the actual course, under one category or another (like when transfering credits from one school to another here in the States). The website below will help you orientate yourself with Canada's educational system. Also, and I'm not absolutely sure, but if you hold onto your U.S. citizenship (if you are one), you will most likely be eligible for the U.S. Stafford Student loan. That's no guarantee, but worth checking out. Good luck - you'll LOVE Canada!

Pennfoster high school diploma acceptance in canada?

We Answered:

As far as I know, as long as the school that issued the diploma is accredited through the state, it's a valid diploma in any country.

Marcia Said:

Can I just enroll into college in Canada without a high school diploma?

We Answered:

You are seriously misinformed about the Canadian education system. People graduate high school after grade 12, which entails writing diploma exams. People then either decide to go on to University, or they don't. I don't know where you got this idea of "three years of high school then two years of college before moving onto a university" but it's the most ridiculous thing I've heard.

We do not have SATs and extra-curricular activities won't get you into a university. All that matters is how you did in grade 12. If you don't meet or exceed the entrance average for whatever program you're applying for (which varies by program and university) you won't get in.

If your family moves to Canada you'll finish grade 12 here (presuming you move before you finish). Then you'll find a university, apply, and either get in or you won't.

FYI, "college" and "university" are not the same thing in Canada. College is... pee-wee postsecondary. It's like community college where people typically get professional or technical diplomas/applied degrees. University is real post-secondary, more prestigious, where people get Bachelors etc.

Roy Said:

How much does it cost to get a high school diploma in Canada?

We Answered:

Pre-university education in Canada is free. It doesn't cost anything to get a high school diploma, unless the student is enrolled in a private school.

Will Universities in Canada Accept Someone with a ILC High School Diploma?

We Answered:

are they University level in grade 11 and 12 or are they at a college level?

in grade 9 and 10 the prerequisites are usually Academic.

You definitely will need an Academic English grade 12 at a University level.. whether you did them ILC or in a regular school it doesn't matter as long as the prerequisite is met then you should be fine.
