High School Diploma Ontario

Marion Said:

Do you have to have a high school diploma to become a teacher in Ontario?

We Answered:

You should have a COLLEGE education of some sort to teach. How on earth do you expect to be a teacher when you don't know one thing about educational theory, curriculum, teaching techniques, etc.? On top of that, you didn't even finish high school. It is admirable that you are going in as a "mature" student, but you're ONLY 20, have a very incomplete education, and no real experience.

Being a teacher takes a lot more than people think. You can't just waltz into a classroom and be a teacher. There are skills, techniques, psychology, communication studies, and pedogogy that you must learn to be a good teacher. It is offensive that someone who has no education and didn't even finish their own education thinks they can just walk into a classrooom and be a teacher.

Edit: Wow...a WHOLE 23 and an ENTIRE year of University?? And a glorified babysitter...Oh my! They should just give you your own classroom right now!

First, if you want to be a teacher, you should be taking education as a major, not sociology. I had a major in sociology as an undergrad (I was a triple major). Having a BA in SOC does NOT teach you to be a teacher. Change your major. Get your education and learn the skills to be a good teacher.

Now, if you're asking if you can still get a job with a college degree and no HS, then yes, you are able because you have education beyond HS.
