BTEC is further education, and i believe if you want to go to university in ireland then it should still count.

A Level 3 course at college is equivalent to A levels.

E.g. Distinction: A
Merit: B
Pass: C

All though for it to count as a full a level it needs to be a BTEC National Certificate/Diploma Level 3.

you can see if anything can be converted into an associates degree.
you can always use your credits later towards another degree at a college that accepts your credits. best way to find out is to talk to someone at your school. each school has different rules

It was Maths & English based when I did mine but it really wasn't anything taxing. The Maths was 10 pretty simple questions & can be revised on the BBC Bitesize website. The English part was a short 250 word piece on why I wanted to take the course.

Of course it counts - a DHE is level 8, which is the same as 2nd year university. You may be lucky and get entry into third year of a degree if your subjects are a perfect match, otherwise be prepared to go back into Year 2.
