Interior Design Diploma

Jared Said:

Where is the best place for diploma or professional degree in Interior Design Course?

We Answered:

The AAS programs at Parsons are designed for career changers, and I recommend them to anyone interested in both high-quality networking opportunities and a solid education. Remember that with the AAS you need to have a professional history and college credits (depending on the program).

Tom Said:

Chose Interior Design Institute for Diploma in Interior Design by correspondence, any info about them?

We Answered:

From looking at their website: http://www.idi.edu/, they seem have a strong faculty and they proudly list their alums and their respective place of employment. One place you may want to research is their career center. Employers seeking top designers will go to a reputable institution. I would even ask the career counselor how often they conduct career fairs and how quickly are graduates employed or working as freelance designers.

Interior Diploma and Architecture Degree?

We Answered:

it really depends on your ultimate goal, do you want to be an interior designer or an architect? Your decision really needs to be based on your strengths rather than your perceived notion of each profession. If your goal is to be a interior designer, you can get by with an Associate degree (2 years) at a community college or simply work experience. Of course a 4 year degree is better, but it is not required in the US. I am not advocating to go with a 2 year degree, I am merely stating what is the minimum requirement. There are no State enforced agency regulating the practice of interior design so anyone can do business as an interior designer.
If your goal is to be an architect, having a Bachelor in Interior Design will not help when you go for your MArch. Naturally you will pursue a Masters in Architecture because it will take less time 3.5 years vs. 5 years to get an Undergraduate degree.
If you are undecided, it is best to pursue the course with the least risk/investment. That way, you can always change your mind and not pay substantially for it.
Math in architecture is relative. It is required for admission into architectural program (minimum Calculus). Look at math as logical training for your brain. In that sense, it is very important, but architectural courses are not heavily biased in high math level.
