hello, do you live in the UK? I work for the national UK charity, MInd and i know they will offer you some experience have a look at their website and see if there is a 'mind' near you. Your doing the right thing by doing the counselling diploma you just need to compliment your studying by gaining some experience. There may also be other agencies you could tap into too, like 'addaction', 'frank' ect. I really do commend you hun, i was in a similar situation a few years back and now i'm going into clinical psychology. Well done and good luck, hope this helps x

It may vary by location, but I believe there is no such requirement in Santa Clara County, California.

I will say though, that if I was looking for a life coach, I would want someone who was successful in the area that I desired to improve. So if I wanted coaching on finance, I would want a millionaire. Or if I wanted to care for aging parents, I'd want someone who went through it and was successful. Or if it was parenting, I'd want someone whose kids came out exceptionally well.

I'm so sorry about all that you are going through. It sounds like you still have hope though which is AMAZING. I have read many questions on yahoo answers,and this is the first one I have ever answered. I went through a very similar period where I was very depressed, and I felt like a failure I actually dropped out of school for a year and gained 20 pounds. I started drinking and doing drugs, and my life spiraled out of control. I spent all of my time inside the house and I was entirely dependent on my mother. All of my friends were entering adulthood, and I was miserable and terrified I would end up homeless on the streets. My story is extremely similar to yours . I knew I didn't wanna die, but I had no idea how to fix my life. I finally decided that I needed to see a therapist. She helped me to change my life for the better. I am sober, I am in college, and I hope to one day join the peace core. Most of all I am happy. All the suffering I used to help other people. It gave me more compassion. I promise you that When you get through this it will become an inspirational story you can use to help others. From the issues that your having it sounds like you could benefit from a therapist way more than you could from a life coach, I say this because a therapist is going to help you work through a lot of the issues you are having. It is key to find a good one though. It took me six first sessions and six therapists before I found the right one! A lot of them are morons who dont really care.Then their are some who are some of the most amazing and kind people on this earth. You need someone compassionate and dedicated, so I suggest you make a bunch of appointments with different therapists and find the one that feels right to you. Please please don't lose hope.
