Just suck it up. It sucks, but look, just study for the science course, one you pass it then you can move on with your life. Sometimes we have to do things we hate to get to where we want to get in life. Once you pass it, then you can forget it. lol.

Maybe you should take a break from school and go back when you're ready to take it again. But really its not going to be fun whether you do it now or in a year from now. Just do it and get it over with.

In Western Australia the minimum age for underground mining is 18, so I would think it the same in other States.

We Answered:

Prior to starting uni you will be sent a health history form. You fill it out & it has to be checked, signed & verified by your GP. Some GP's charge for this, some don't. You then send the form back to Occ Health. If there are any issues they will call you in to discuss them. For instance I've previously had depression so I was called in to discuss that. They just wanted to see how I was dealing with it, how did I plan to cope if I got depressed again whilst at uni & make me aware of the support available if I needed. Occ Health aren't trying to stop people getting on the course, they are there to help you if there's any issues. I had a half hour chat with their doctor & he signed me as fit to work/study. Unless you have a major health issue that would prevent you from nursing then your Occ Health check really isn't anything to worry about.

Everybody gets called in at some point to start their vaccinations & at my uni we were given our appointments in the first week. Other uni's may do it differently though.
