Public Services Diploma

Brad Said:

I'm in college doing a National Diploma in Public Services, can i still join the TA army now? Or Wait. In UK.?

We Answered:

Yes,of course you can.
Provided you are eligible and able to cope with training.
The commitment is of the order of one drill night a week, one training weekend a month and a two week training camp.
As for "transferring over",it is rarely that straightforward.
TA members normally go through the same process as people joining up from civilian life with no prior experience.
On the one hand, you'd have the advantage of being familiar with a lot of things,
On the other, you'd be expected to get them right!

Stacey Said:

Has anyone ever done or do the 'National Diploma in Public Services' course?

We Answered:

It's a great course but not so sure if you would call it enjoyable. Be prepared to read, re-read and read again and again and again to pass :) It is definitely not a walk over!! Good luck.

Alfred Said:

How many UCAS points would the public services diploma equal?

We Answered:

If you go on the UCAS website it will tell you how many points your Diploma is worth. However you need to bear in mind that the RN/RM point score of 18- UCAS points should come from at least 2 non-overlapping subjects and not all Diploma courses are accepted by the Admiralty Interview Board (AIB). Normally you will need to pass your qualifications onto the AIB for ratification prior to attending the AIB as part of your selection

Priscilla Said:

how many UCAS points do you get for BTEC First Diploma in Public Services (Level 2)?

We Answered:

None
zero
zilch
nil
nada

UCAS points are for level 3 qualifications, not level 2.

Jason Said:

UK: What can someone do with a BTEC National Diploma in Public Services?

We Answered:

It is ideally suited to someone wanting to do office work for a local council though many of the skills are transferable and could be applied to other office/admin/supervisory jobs.
If you wanted, it might also open the door to a higher level of education, not necessarily in the same field. For example, a person with that BTEC National Diploma might go on to take a BTEC Higher National Diploma (or a foundation degree) in Business or finance. Equally, they may move sideways into human resource management, leisure management or financial management (AAT).
