Are philosophy and social work good courses to take for my pre law education? We Answered:
Pre-Law Students have the option to major in any subject or subjects that they choose. There is no one set route that will guarantee acceptance. Common majors for Pre-Law Students are in the following: English, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, History, and Political Science. So, to answer your question, yes, those courses sound just fine. However, if you wanted to stand out amongst the crowd, you might want to take a Math or Science Major combined with Philosophy. Philosophy will be helpful in teaching you logic, reasoning, and analytical skills which are needed in Law School and a Math or Science will just make you seem unique amongst the other candidates, but honestly, you can major in anything you'd like. What matters most is your GPA, LSAT scores, and recommendations.
