Hi,

When you study for a masters there is usually a taught side to the degree

It starts off with Post-graduate certificate, then post-graduate diploma.

The Masters degree is awarded for your dissertation. You must pass the cert and diploma before you can submit the dissertation to gain the degree.

Hope this clarifies the situation.

Your sister needs to contact her college career center and talk with a counselor. That person can help her finding a job in your area. Applying via web sites isn't going to cut it -- she will be competing with people with much more experience and connections. She needs to concentrate on building such connections. Use Google to find an association of social workers in your area -- she should join this and attend meetings regularly, getting to know members. And while she's job searching, she needs to be volunteering, to further build her skills, experience and job connections.

For job web sites, just use google -- you can find many. But, again, that's not how she's going to find a job with just a degree.

I can't imagine they are exactly the same. A degree is usually worth more, especially when you consider it opens the doorway to a masters as well.
