Social Worker Diploma
Misty Said:
Is a college diploma enough to become a social worker or do i need to go to uni to get a degree? We Answered:
To be really competitive in the social work field, you need to have a Master's degree in social work (MSW). You can get entry level positions with a BSW, but if you want something that pays more, a MSW is the way to go.If you're looking for a job with a BSW, try the National Association of Social Workers website for your state (if you live in the U.S.). Try Googling National Association of Social Workers along with the name of your state, and you should find the NASW site for your state. Look around on there and see if there is a career center that has job postings. If you live outside the U.S. Google the name of whatever social work governing agency there is in that country. Hope this helps.

Working in US with Canadian Social Service Worker Diploma? We Answered:
The council on social work education (www.cswe.org) has a service to evaluate degrees received external to the US. Is the diploma equivalent to a MA or is it equivalent to a secondary BA. If it is equivalent to an MA you should be fine. If not you may want to come down to the states and do an MSW or do it up there and then come down here.DA

Social Workers here in Ontario? Can a 2 years diploma from college get me working as a social worker? We Answered:
In order to be registered as a social worker in Ontario, you have to have a degree from an approved social work program. There are 12 Universities in Ontario which offer such a program. You cannot get registered as a social worker with a community services worker diploma. However, you can get registered as a social service worker. Generally, graduates who have obtained a two-year college diploma in social service work from a College of Applied Arts and Technology qualify for registration.
For detailed information on the differences between a social worker and a social services worker, go to the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. Their website is listed below.

I want to become a Social Worker, but I don't have a High School Diploma. Where do I start? We Answered:
you HAVE to get at least a GED to begin college. Social workers normally have, at the minimum, a bachelors (4 year) degree. If you go to your local community college to sign up for GED classes or testing, ask to speak to a counselor about what major you should look into for that career path, or even go to the health department or a hospital and talk to a social worker and ask what they recommend. It can't hurt. I am glad to see that you want better things for yourself and your children.I know you have put yourself in a rough situation by being a single mom, but you will have to be tough and work that much harder for your education- now that you are realizing what you really want in life!

is this the best course to become a social worker?BTEC First Diploma: Health & Social Care?We Answered:
BTEC First Diplomas come on the scale as equivalent to GCSE's they are Level 2 qualifications. A BTEC National Diploma is level 3 and suitable to progess onto Level 4 [degree, foundation degree].Health and Social Care is one option, you could look at Counselling qualifications, these tend to be job based, NVQ's etc.
Have a look on the site below, it's a good reference to what qualificaitons are out there.
