Benefits Of Education

Bradley Said:

How long do I have to use my Chapter 35 Education Benefits?

We Answered:

It depends on the percentage of disability the VA has deemed your father at. You will have to speak with your VA benefits coordinator

Arthur Said:

Can someone give me details of the education benefits I will be receiving if I join the Marine Corps?

We Answered:

You do not need it written in your contract it is offered to every enlistee that is eligible for it.

9/11 GI Bill is different from the old Montgomery GI Bill. No longer is a payment of $100 per month for the first 12 months of your enlistment taken out for it. It is offered to you after serving 36 months of service. If you are out of the military under honorable conditions then you receive up to 3 years of college paid for (state college, there is a limit), along with a housing allowance for E5 in your area and a book stipend. While you are AD you can use Tuition Assistance of up to $4500 or 16 college credits per fiscal year. You can also do CLEPS/DANTES where you write an exam for free and if you pass you get the credit. Some colleges might offer credits for your training in the military as well.

Any good Quotes on how Women's Education benefits others?

We Answered:

I don't know if this fits, well anyways here it goes:

"I've learned so many things and a lot of things I've learned the hard way. I look at failure as education in that respect I'm very well educated."

How do Veterans' Administration education benefits work?

We Answered:

Every person and situation is completely different, so it would be impossible for us to answer since their are so many variables to take in consideration. How much you qualify for will be dependent (for instance) on the $ available on your spouses GI Bill, and some other factors.

If I was you, I would contact one of the local schools that are VA Accredited and make an appointment with a Financial Aid Counselor. He/She would be able to answer all of the questions you have regarding how much you would qualify for, and for how long. I think there is a time limit that you (able bodied spouse) has to use it (gi bill) or lose it by. So the sooner you make an appoint with Financial Aid the better.

You can also check the VA website for Education Benefits (I have linked it below). This will give you some broad information that will allow you to ask more specific questions at your meeting with the Financial Aid Counselor. There are other Benefit areas on that site you might also want to check.

Good Luck!

Can someone please explain to me how to take full advantage of the Army National Guard education benefits?

We Answered:

The GI bill goes directly to you. You get paid a certain ammount for 36 months of full time study, or 45 months of 3/4 time study, or 72 months of half-time study. However, you can only use it in the fall and spring, unless your school is on a quarterly schedule. It takes a while to get it because you have to enroll and sign up for classes first, but they will pay you back pay. You have to go to the school's military affairs people at financial aid. The tuition assistance goes from the National guard to the school you go to. I can only be used to pay tuition, fees, and books, and it will reduce the ammount of money that the department will give you in the form of student loans. You may still qualify for 100% of the Pell Grant money you would be elidgible for. You have to get a form filled out by your NG company admin NCO, and take it to the school, and they bill the National Guard. Getting the paperwork right can be tricky, but you just have to make sure it is done correctly, and the school, the NG and you unit do everything right. Assuming your parents are not too well off, you can get through college and have all of your tuition and books paid for without joining the Military, but you will have considerably more student loans, and you will not have as much (or any) income for your own living expenses. Another benefit is that joining any branch of the military makes you an independent student for financial aid purposes. That means they look at your income and assets, not your parents, when deciding how much financial aid to give you. Some people have trouble getting financial aid because of their parent's income, and unless they become an independent student, they have to rely on their parents borowing money privately or giving them money to pay for college tuition. The kicker is sort of like additional GI Bill, money as far as I know. The drill money, the annual training money, and the money from basic training and AIT is helpful too.

What are the Texas National Guard education benefits?

We Answered:

Your best bet would be to contact a local ARNG recruiter and ask. They are required to be fully informed as to exactly what Texas will and will not pay for.Additionally, be aware that ARNG educational benefits are not carved in stone and are subject to revision at any time, based upon the states current budgetary status.
