Stephen Said:

Does anyone do Photography in college? [UK] If so, what is it like?

We Answered:

Photography courses are great, I did four years of study. You do need to be quite self-motivated as you will be left to your own devices a lot.

From leaving school ether do a foundation year at art college or a national diploma (2years) at college. Then take a degree. Where you study your degree is more important as standards vary a lot. Some of the better courses include Blackpool, Bournemouth, Cheltenham, Plymouth, Salisbury, Manchester, London college.

Nathan Said:

Can someone give me any ideas on good art colleges in UK?

We Answered:

If your daughter hasn't done her A levels yet she doesn't have to choose the art college where she will be doing her degree yet because she will have to do a Foundation Course or BTEC first, which is usually done at a fairly local college. The college will be able to advise her and she will have all the opportunities to look around, there are open days at colleges that offer degree courses which are very useful, for example. Going to the end of year degree shows is also useful, she could begin to do this now to get ideas about which colleges seem to encourage the sort of work that she wants to do.
