Frederick Said:

Can I get a job in NYC with an Associates Degree in Human Services??

We Answered:

NYC is very competitive. Your degree wouldn't get you anywhere. Not there. You'd need at least a bachelors and work experience to even be taken seriously. More likely than not the jobs would be going to people with masters. You would be lucky to get a temp job in the mail room or as a waitress somewhere.

New York is very expensive. Go to the NYC Craigslist site and look at what people are paying for rent. You would have to have an awful lot of money saved up front.

If you want to experience NYC, consider finishing your education there. You've already knocked off two years of it, now you'd just be going for the last 2. Get an internship so that you can make some connections. Or maybe you could just set up an internship for your self through your school for a few months perhaps a summer vacation? But even that won't be easy and be prepared to have money on hand. NYC is an amazing place but it costs. Get all your student loans before hand. Once you have lived their a bit you could decide if you want to stay there.

Do any colleges in NYC offer a glass program???

We Answered:

Do you mean art or science?

For both though, the best without question in NY is in Alfred NY. The school is Alfred University and they have the New York State College of Ceramics for both glass art and glass science.

It also happens to be my alma mater.

NYU- school for continuing education

Peter Said:

What's the best college in the Bk/nyc/queens area to learn graphic design/painting/art?

We Answered:

Queens College. It's one of the top 4 CUNY colleges in the city and I heard has good art program. Can't speak from experience, sorry.

If you don't care about tuition, then the absolute best art school in NYC is SVA (School of Visual Arts). There's also Parsons and Pratt. I know SVA has continuing education, don't know about the other too.

Edit: I have been researching alot the past few days and haven't found a good school with art under the "Continuing Education" link. Sorry. I think SVA is the best though. Lots of luck! Don't give up.
