Stacy Said:

What are some good sites for FREE nursing continuing education credits/units?

The CDC has a few free CE offerings on their website. There is a tuberculosis program that is good for 6, and also there is or used to be a program on hand-hygiene. There is also a program on immunizations. All offer free CEs.

Can continuing education units used for ASHA be used for the Pa Dept of Education Act 48 for teachers?

We Answered:

PDE has cracked down in recent months on what it will accept for Act 48 credits (much to my and many of my colleagues dismay). Check out www.pde.state.pa.us
That may be able to answer your question. Good luck!

Gladys Said:

Why do you think continuing education is so important?

We Answered:

Because technology and knowledge continue to evolve and grow. It's important in certain career fields, especially within the medical community, to be aware of that latest technology/knowledge.

Formally requiring continuing education ensures that the recipients of your work are rightfully benefiting from what is now known, and they're not being treated on antiquated or improper knowledge.

Jonathan Said:

How many DHR hour trainings equal 4.5 Continuing Education Units?

We Answered:

Have you checked with your state on the conversion for DHR/CTE units? They usually can give you the break down. Every state is different on conversion so it's hard to give specific numbers. Go to the state dept of ed website and if the info is not on there, just give the licensure department a call.
