Debra Said:

is there any way to get paid training and education to become a correctional officer in Georgia?

We Answered:

Hey check with your local universities. In Savannah if you sign on to work with the univseristy as a campus police office (if it's a state univsersity that means you will be a real correctional officer NOT a rent-a-cop) they will pay for your training.

DETC Accreditation -- Distance Education and Training Council -- Its' worth it!?

We Answered:

Thank you so much for that information. I'm currently a student learning via distance education and I'm very pleased with everything I'm learning so far. I've actually taken a few legal courses in person at a College and the course material is virtually the same!

I was worried about whether or not the DETC degree was going to be worth it or not, however I quickly learned that employers only care about the degree, not what type of accreditation the school had.

Thanks flparalegal!

Is behind the wheel and driver training the same?

We Answered:

Driver training could be classroom or actual "behind the wheel" time.

Accreditation from Distance Education and Training Council (DETC) meet Edu requirements for an ABA Law Schl?

We Answered:

If I were you I would get the facts on this, in writing (which means email is fine) from several ABA Law Schools of interest to you. The reason I say this is because I vaguely recall reading somewhere that DETC is perfectly acceptable, but schools vary as to whether or not they will accept it.

So, get your facts from the source. As a future lawyer you will want to develop this habit, or you will lose cases because you were using hear-say.

Enjoy your law journey. I am like you, I just want to hang out my shingle, I don't care what school I get my law degree from as long as it qualifies me as lawyer in the end.

Let me know how you fare!

Why is public school not free for everybody in NSW?

We Answered:

Sounds like its just because you are only a temporary resident. Some students from overseas have to pay up to $15000 for a year of public education here. I know I didn't have to pay more than $50 or so when I went to school in NSW - (I'm a permanent resident). The government subsidies most public school students. It really wouldn't hurt them much to give the same benefits to other students too, though. The money goes to the state education stuff, so it goes into improving all the schools in general not just the ones with the exchange or temporary students.
