By completing the training online the geographical location of the supplier is not as important – as long as they are able to provide you with the level of support you require.

It’s more crucial that you identify the areas you want to focus your career development on and pick the best training for you. Do you want to further develop your skills in the mainframe area you are currently working in, are you looking to broaden your knowledge in a related skill area, or are you looking for new challenges in a totally different field?

Once you’ve identified a subject area, it should help you narrow down the list of educational suppliers that will be able to help you out.

You then need to look at how and when you intend to complete the training, over what duration, and how it will fit into your work and life schedule.

Something you could also look at is if your employer provides any opportunities for additional training and career development as well. They might be able to support you, or if not, share the financial commitment to any training you want to take out-of-work-hours if your career development ultimately benefits them.
