Early Childhood Education Course

Ronald Said:

what do you learn when you take, early childhood education, or early childhood development , course?

We Answered:

In my university, early childhood education is a major, not just a course, which encompasses child development, content areas, how children learn at various ages, lesson planning, assessment, etc. to prepare people to become teachers of children preschool to 3rd grade. On the other hand, Child development courses are not as extensive and, as the name suggests, are more narrowly focused on cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development of children from birth. It would likely be one of the courses required in an early childhood program, though in my program we had several child development-like courses focusing on different aspects/stages of growth and development.

Some universities have child development as a major, which I guess would lead to careers in a range of occupations working with children. Preschool teacher, daycare, child advocate, child social worker, pediatric occupational therapy, child psychology, and others. Obviously the last few would require further education in some type of specialization.

Lucille Said:

early childhood education course question for an assignment?

We Answered:

Age of children plays in. Toddlers parallel play, but don't play together until that level is reached. Ages above not given. Mother could start a game of choo choo and have children follow her, or take buckets, spades and go to park. The task doesn't make sense, but if it is from school get details. I don't see how self concept is part if mother's job. Which of these is her child? Usually, if it is day care, the children have structure, and are watched buy as they mature separately are left to figure it out unless they come to blows. Get clarification, as it doesn't make sense. Ask questions of your instructor.

...of course, I have this funny feeling that you are in the UK. If that is the case, I really can't help you, unless you plan on studying in the US.
