Seth Said:

what teachers learn from early childhood education courses?

We Answered:

I am currently a senior early childhood major in college. In my four years of being an early childhood major, I have learned the basics about education, (including theorists and the history of the education system in the United States). My very first college class in early chilldhood education was entitled the Foundations of Education. From there, I took an Intro to Early Childhood Class. This class introduced me to the developmental stages of children in the early childhood levels. We also covered basic terminology that everyday early childhood teachers would use. At my school, we are fortunate enough to take a course on Intro to Inclusive Early Childhood. This course gave me a variety of information on students who will/might have diabilities as well as how to fill out an Individual Education Plan (IEP) for students.
My junior and senior years of college have included courses on how to teach specific subjects, i.e., Teaching mathematics to early childhood students. In this methods classes, we learn how to teach specifics areas as well as participate in activities and use manipulatives. During all of my early childhood courses, I have the opportunity to gain field experience by observing, teaching, and working in early childhood classrooms.

I hope this makes sense. Early Childhood Education is a wonderful major to go into. I have enjoyed my time and am eager to get into the classroom! Good luck!

Jeffrey Said:

where can i do my early childhood education course in ny or nj?

We Answered:

Most junior colleges have early childhood programs. They usually take 2 years if you want an Associates Degree. New York has a program called Empire State College which lets you work at your own pace and get credit for life experiences. It is possible to get a CAD in under a year but you really have to be working in the field while you take coursework.

Sheila Said:

What courses do i take in college for early childhood education and requirements?

We Answered:

You do not need any courses in high school but you can select from the somewhat limited electives.

As far as college is concerned to an extent the courses that are given are required by the state for certification.

Contact the California State Education Department and ask them about the qualification for an early childhood license. Colleges too will have this information but it is good to get it from the horses mouth,

Tina Said:

Is Child Day Care Management equivalent to Early childhood education?

We Answered:

No. Management involves the business end of the business-dealing with licensing, personell issues, money etc. while Early Childhood Education courses involve children and curriculum. If you want to run your own center you need training in both!
