Education Administration Jobs

Victor Said:

My husband is considering changing careers-what education is needed for computer network administration jobs?

We Answered:

I have two sons in this field. They are highly experienced and both have 2 year degrees in the field. They are not well paid but really enjoy their work. They both say that experience counts for more than degrees in this field, but I'm thinking that for him to get started in the field, he should have at least a 2 year degree and as many certifications as he can get. If he takes some classes in this field, he will hear about the certification tests and when and where he can take them. They are sometimes expensive, but his teachers should be able to guide him toward the most important ones.

Maybe you could apply for an internship.

Raymond Said:

What educational and work experience should one have to seek employment in higher education administration?

We Answered:

It looks like your credentials are at least in the right direction, but depending on what you're looking for, you may need more than that. If you're looking for a general-purpose kind of position like HR or PR, this is not an academic position and you can probably apply for those directly. But things like admissions, recruiting, and administration will require some showing of a desire to be a part of the academy as such. This could be done by spending some time in a support position at a university, or by getting a masters in higher education administration.

But as you already have an MA, you're probably looking to get a job, not another degree.

I wouldn't probably waste too much time on the athletics positions. If you really wanted to do that, you'd already know whether or not you're qualified and how to get those jobs. The people who are eligible already know who they are.

Kathryn Said:

to master in education administration, should your undergrad be in education, or can it be in criminal justice?

We Answered:

Ironically my undergard is History and my master's is Educational Administration. It really doesn't matter what your undergrad is for an education administration degree, especially since a lot of teacher's my pursue and they have varied degrees.

Annette Said:

Education Administration or Teaching?

We Answered:

I woould personally take the teaching job, but that's because i prefer to teach that sit at a desk all day. in a teaching position you can form real significant relationships with your students, which is probably my favourite part of teaching.

However, you need to think about what you would prefer. Are you happy to do an administration job or would you get bored easily? Which job appeals more to you (be honest with yourself).

Good Luck! :)
