Education For Girls

Tracy Said:

What can one do to promote education of girls in India?

We Answered:

There has to be a "reason", and "End all". If someone does not see the "light at the end of the tunnel", they can't begin to fathom why they need an education. The Caste system also doesn't lend to a really good atmosphere. They have to WANT to be educated and WANT to be more than the rest. Education, not matter where or what, helps you become a better person and a brighter person. It helps make you into what you want. It is having a GOAL that makes education the prize

What problems might pregnancy cause for a teenage girls education?

We Answered:

Typical schedule with a newborn - up every 2-3 hours all night for feedings and diaper changes. Same schedule all day long, plus laundry and other household chores. Now add on early mornings (or nights) for class, homework, term papers, exams. No time or energy for a social life. You do the math. This is a tug of war between your baby's needs and your education. Guess who wins? Baby comes first. I'm not saying it's impossible but it is a very hard road to take.

Phillip Said:

i was wondering in the orthodox and haredi girls schools what does the girls education consist of?

We Answered:

Well, I think I can answer you're question because I attend a Jewish orthodox all girl's high school myself. I have classes from around 8 to 5. In the morning I have all hebrew classes, and after lunch we have English subjects. Let me tell you, my school is famous for being well-educating, in secular and non-secular studies.. In fact, we had the highest average scrores on our PSATs in my entire city (and though I am not going to name the city, let me assure you that it is very large)! Many girls in my school take college courses as well. We have honors and AP in almost every class. Last year, in 9th grade, I took TWO sciences plus all the other normal subjects.
At the same time, they do teach us about our religion and responsibilities etc. We also have a dress code inside and outside of school and we are not allowed to talk to boys. So we are well prepared for our religious lives AS WELL as WHATEVER career we choose. I have known girls from my school that have been excepted at places such as Yale and Harvard. So it isn't to be said that we are not set up for the real world, because we most certainly are.
So, just because we are strictly orthodox, it does not mean that we don't get the education we need, and more besides! At fifteen, I am proud to say that my education has provided me with more knowledge and ability then I probably would have gotten at any other school around me, especially any public school. I have had non-orthodox friends who have attended public schools, and let me tell you, I hope that I never end up like them. To say that public schools provide better eduction and more introduction to the "real world", whatever that may be, is just ignorance. Whoever said that probably just went to public school and doesn't know any better...

Victor Said:

i need a sponsor for the establishmentof a girls school to further encourage girls education in my country?

We Answered:

It's certainly an honorable cause and I suspect you would get more of a response if you stated what your country is and where you are. That might help explain why there are a lack of schools and help people determine if they are able to help. Best Regards.
