First, why does it have to be free? Why not ask the parents to send their children to school with, for example, an egg to compensate the teacher? People who pay for things are more likely to respect things.

One American school could undertake a school project. That project is to send your new school some things from your wish list. (A wish list for your school should include everything from pencils to toilet paper.)

People love to help others. Well, some do.

Find a person to purchase the land. Or sell portions of the land to Americans or others willing to invest. That is, start a Limited Partnership in a legally protective state. (Alaska, Nevada, and Wyoming are all much better than most. Never form your LP in California or any state that continually elects too many Democrats to their state legislature. Democrats are the death of innovation.)

Pass control of the LP to an LLC, especially in another of those three states. When someone wishes to sue you, they will have to go through two states. People will sue. Even if it is a useless attempt, you still have to pay. So protect yourself.

Memorize, then practice, Professor Wonderful's Seven P's: Proper Prior Planning Prevents Pathetically Poor Performance.

Once legally formed as mentioned above, you are not in danger of losing your home. (Example: A child in California attempts to collect used crayons for your school. While walking down some stairs with a few crayons, the kid slips and hurts himself. Guess who a California jury could say is indirectly responsible for the child's injury? If you are found to be one percent responsible, you could have to pay 100 percent of the jury's award.)

If you own your home with your spouse, then if either of you is ever found to be one percent responsible for an actionable tort cause, the other party's attorney is duty bound to seize and sell your entire home to satisfy his client's award.

Ask on-post military papers to carry your school's situation. Many who will soon retire could wish to donate or come to your school to teach.

Attend a convention for principals. Have a booth at their event. Ask for help from the various principals. Request that they have a school drive for X, Y, and Z on your wish list.

Write to prison wardens (the wardens handle state facilities) and county sheriffs (the sheriffs handle jails). Ask if they have people who will assist in recruiting volunteer helpers. In some jurisdictions a court may allow an early release for the public good. (Even if that 'public' is in an East African nation.)

Churches often will help. Especially a Seventh Day Adventist church. Seventh Day Baptist churches could take up a collection.

Teach the children to read with McGuffey Readers.

Disdain all recommendations from the teachers unions.

South Africa and Lesotho have the proximity to assist better than we Americans. Use them as targeting populations.

If the school is for poor people who have no other chance for schooling, seek professional advice. It can be very worthwhile. I have no person to recommend, so why not ask your particular member of Congress?

Incidentally, it is entirely legal under British law (and Uganda formed itself to comport with that form of law) to sell a chair to a donor. That is, the donor sends you fifty dollars US. You buy a chair for ten dollars US. The other forty goes for other needs. The donor gets his name carved into the chair...and his picture on the wall.

Set your goals. Make them smarter, with an ab factor.

They should be paid more. Once just any idiot can't become a teacher, then the applicant numbers grow and bad teachers can be fired. If there's a shortage of teachers and the pay is low, you get what you get.

We have the same problem here in the states. The absentee rate isn't as bad, but the quality of teachers and the education they provide their students is largely substandard. If the profession is valued, compensated and held to an appropriate standard, the problem goes away.
