Education Requirements For Nursing
Agnes Said:
what's the education requirements for a nurse practitioner? We Answered:
You first become an RN through either an Associate Degree program at a community college or a Bachelor of Science (or Arts) in Nursing from a full university. If you go the ADN route you will eventually need to complete a BS degree, preferably in nursing, but they will admit students to Nurse Practitioner programs with a BS in another field if you are a competent RN.Right now, the minimum education required for NPs is a Master's level eduation, however in 2015, all new graduates must possess a Doctorate of Nursing Practice. A Master's degree is approx. 2-3 years of study beyond the BSN, and a DNP is another 2-3 years beyond a Master's, however some programs have formed a BSN to DNP program which skips about 1-1.5 years of the Master's level courses for select, high performance students.
You also need at least a year of work experience as a regular RN before you can apply to most NP programs.

I have a BA but not in nursing, can I waive any requirements? We Answered:
YOu can waive most (maybe all--depends) on the undergrad pre-reqs and just do the core RN portion; if you have the nursing pre-reqs. Since you already have a BA either the BS RN or the Associate RN--see which school gives you the best package based upon you previous schooling.Russell Said:

What is the education requirements to be a doula or a midwife? We Answered:
A doula is very different from a midwife. A doula is simply a labor coach; she provides physical, emotional and informational support and does nothing medical. A midwife is trained catch babies, monitor the fetus and help during pregnancy. Most midwife programs require you to be an RN and then go to midwifery school.
Doulas should become certfied, though there's no regulation. There are many organizations that certify doulas like DONA, CAPPA and ICEA.
This article has some good information about becoming a doula and should help.
